My Lefty Drawing is Published in the NZ Creative Cronies 2015 Moon Calendar!

Kardin by Kathy CrabbeMy 'lefty' drawing titled Kardin has just been published in the 2015 Moon Calendar Astrological Diary put out by the New Zealand Creative Cronies, a group of three astrologers: Minerva, Robyn and Arafelle who live on co-operatively owned land in the Far North of New Zealand. I find that this Calendar is similar to my other favorite moon calendar, the We'Moon Datebook but with a Southern Hemisphere emphasis such as the times listed in NZ clock time. I also love how each New Moon in the book has a full page with a 'New Moon Map' which is a graphic image of planetary positions relative to Aotearoa (New Zealand) and the Southern Hemisphere, at the exact moment of the Moon/Sun conjunction. I also like how each day is accompanied by a phrase, affirmation, or bit of wisdom. Plus I LOVE the artwork which is so interesting; they feature abstract work, figurative fairytale illustrations by Aralyn Doiron plus several nature paintings - so refreshing and innovative rather than simply more super realistic and highly detailed Goddess Art. I also LOVE that they pay their artists as well as sending us a copy of the Diary!

I must say that I am quite partial to anything Kiwi because my brother, Gary Crabbe lives on the South Island of New Zealand where he is a viticulturist growing grapes and making world class Pinot Noir wine with the help of his wife Lynn at Coal Pit Vineyard.

Kathy Crabbe author box ABOUT KATHY

Kathy Crabbe is a Creative Soul Guide, artist, author and educator. Originally from Canada, Kathy currently lives and works in the wine country of Temecula. Kathy created the Awaken Your Creative Soul class after spending 7 years drawing a Creative Soul Deck using her non dominant left hand. This awakened Kathy’s intuitive, creative soul in new ways and inspired her to help others follow their dreams. Since then Kathy has given over 1000 intuitive readings using her Creative Soul ‘lefty’ deck as well as teaching at the Wise Woman University. Her art has appeared in galleries, museums, magazines and on HGTV. Kathy formed a writer’s group in Temecula to share her ‘lefty’ art and poetry which she also published in a zine featuring local writers. Kathy and a life sized Lefty were invited to speak at an International Women’s Day event in Los Angeles that the LA Times dubbed “self esteem boosting” which was almost as dreamy as hearing her favorite song performed by Michelle Shocked in the background as she spoke.

Artists Around the World Blog-Hop

I am honoured to participate in this blog hop featuring artists around the world. I was invited by talented artist and intuitive reader Adrienne Vita along with the illustrator Marta Berk to participate. Why do I create what I do?

I never know exactly what it is I'm about to create next actually. I let spirit guide me and am often surprised by what comes out, but this is all part of the creative process, non? I do know that whatever I create is exactly what i need at that moment to grow my creative soul.

How does my creative process work?

My creative work anchors me to the Divine and is often exactly what i need to help guide me along my path emotionally and intuitively.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Which work? I have so many different styles: cartooney...abstract...detailed realism...whimsical children's book illustration style...etc.

What am I presently working on?

Currently I'm developing a new class called "Awaken Your Creative Soul"; a creative, spiritual class where students create affirmation cards using their non dominant hand along with moon collages! I find that developing a class and teaching is an incredibly rich and satisfying experience creatively. I also continue to create more 'lefty' drawings combined with collaged words/phrases that may end up being published in upcoming Creative Soul decks that I hope to put out every year. I also channel healing songs, affirmations and Creative Soul Challenges and Body Movement exercises every New and Full Moon to accompany a Creative Soul Card chosen specifically for that Moon and shared with my class.
