Spiral of Power

So much going on right now! To stem the flow, or rather to direct it towards creative expression, I'm painting it out and getting it onto board ie. my painting surface, which is masonite.

The opposite of patriarchy is not matriarchy, but is fraternity and I think it's women who are going to have to break the spiral of power and find the trick of co-operation. ~ Sinéad O'Connor, Fire on Babylon.

Strength and compassion are required from all of us.

"All the lonely people where do they all come from...We used to worship God as a Mother (and now) we're suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."

Sinéad O'Connor, Famine.

Musical Ambiance: Sinéad O'Connor, Universal Mother album.

Getting Back To It

Sinking Deeper - 48" x 48" - acrylic and charcoal on masonite © 2010 Kathy V. Crabbe

It's been ages (actually,  just one month) since I've painted - a necessary break, and now it's hot again...in the 90's and my little art studio is heating up. It feels good to bask in this warmth.

"Your love is an ocean... An ocean refuses no river."

~ Sheila Chandra, from the song "Ever So Lonely" (UK, 1992)

I listen...what is the painting trying to say? It's beyond sound, beyond time and space, sinking deeper, deeper. Musical Ambiance: Real World, Various Artists

It's Gonna Be All Right

"It's gonna be all right" from the album "Central Reservation" by Beth Orton.

Pisces New Moon keywords for me: restraint, tempered with mysticism, passion and discipline.

Spring Equinox - listening to old friends on CD - Birch Island Party 2007, Friday night - not really missing my home town because my heart is still there and always will be.

Here's to the music, thanks for bringing the tunes: George, Spencer & Jack ~ "We'll play as long as Mrs. Angerman will allow it!"
charcoal, pastel & acrylic on masonite - 48" x 48"

Wanting to do less and less to these paintings - they breathe beauty as they are, but "Should I stay or should I go now?" is the question.

The smell of mulch and fertilizer fills my senses...I've been planting, it's spring!

I don't want to touch this painting, I just want to stare at it...(in awe).

Musical Ambiance ~ Birch Island 2007 - Friday Night, Beth Orton - Central Reservation.

In Her Clutches

acrylic, pastel and charcoal on masonite - 48" x 48"

Astrology takes over. Within her clutches (they feel very Saturnine as well as Uranian) I lose my sense of self, boundaries dissolve, my head fills with mythologies, depth psychology, Jungian archetypes. It's hard for me to feel when astrology is my focus.

Musical Ambiance: Propaganda & Pat Proud.
